Traditional Puppetry Show
A rare Sri Lankan puppetry performance presented in an intimate setting.
More about
Sri Lankan puppetry is a disappearing art form once central to village storytelling and social life. This experience offers a rare opportunity to witness the craft up close, where hand-carved puppets, movement, and voice come together to tell stories that blend humour, commentary, and tradition.
Presented at your villa or an outdoor venue, the performance feels personal and engaging. The puppeteers interact closely with the audience, allowing the skill, timing, and character of the art form to be fully appreciated. The setting creates a sense of closeness that larger stages often lose.
By hosting this performance, Ceylon Soul supports master puppeteers whose knowledge is carried through practice rather than written record. The experience offers cultural depth, warmth, and insight into a tradition that survives through continued sharing and attention.

We had a walking tour with Atheeq and it was such an enriching experience. Atheeq had so much modern and historical knowledge of the area and a very positive outlook on the community as a whole. It seemed as if he knew the answer to everything about Galle and Sri Lankan culture. I was travelling with my brother and Dad to which he could engage with each of us on a personal level about things we really cared about. After a stop off at an ice cream place and a leisurely stroll to see the sunset, Atheeq explained to us multitude of knowledge about environmental, socio-economic and historical facts to which I enjoyed throughly. And i normally dont care for tours at all. Atheeq provides a perfect tour for young adults who find it hard to engage with traditional tours as well as much older generations. I highly recommend him, we felt welcomed and he offered recommendations and services outside of the tour. He genuinely was hyped by topics of conversation which you dont find normally with guides. If you want to see and understand Galle i couldnt recommend anyone more.

What stayed with me was the balance. Between spice and spirit, instruction and freedom, learning and simply enjoying the moment. It never felt performative, just thoughtful and well held.
